"We make Sit happen"
Because Your Family deserves it!
In these crazy times and with all that is going on, it is comforting to have peace and the love of a great canine companion in your home!
How would you describe a “good“ family dog?
For most of us we would say a good dog is one that walks well on leash, behaves while you are preparing food or having dinner and follows basic commands like sit, down, stay when told, comes when called by name, does not jump on you or others (unless asked to) and does not bark uncontrollably. With all of that said there are probably some special or unique things that we could add to the list.
HTL teaches a Basic Obedience program with you and your dog to become consistent, confident, patient pack leaders that learn how to continue the foundation established with HTL to teach their dogs the basic obedience commands. Some of the things you will learn are:
How to teach your dog the basic obedience commands of Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave-It and Heel.
How to keep your dog’s focus and attention on you and say please by sitting for everything he wants.
How to teach the dog to ride in a car nicely, especially if the ride is to the vet.
How to teach your dog to not react to other dogs on walks, kids or bicycles.
How to teach your dog to stop begging and stay away from the table when people are eating.
How to ensure that your dog listens to all members of your family, not just you.
Unfortunately for most people it is very difficult to achieve this level of “good’ behavior with their dogs. There can be a number of contributing factors. Some of them are as follows:
A person's lack of knowledge of how to teach a specific command.
Being inconsistent with schedules or instruction.
Not establishing and following a good plan.
A person's inability to assert themselves as the pack leader.
Giving their dog the option of not obeying commands.
Not having patience to let their dog learn at the dogs pace not theirs.
Losing their temper or control while working with their dog.
The bottom line, most dogs ARE teachable! It helps to start young but even an old do CAN learn new tricks!
With Happy Tails Learning you will have the knowledge, tools and techniques to continue to mold, educate and teach your dog to be the star of your neighborhood. It is our mission to help you to provide the proper care, love, and leadership to ensure a stable dog to make a happy home.
